Welcome to April's edition of CRPhotomanipulation's Group Highlights, this time around we present a journal directed towards the newest members of our community, featuring one of our larger and most beloved groups:

:iconthe-imaginarium:

The Imaginarium

The-Imaginarium is not a contest group, it's not a features group and it's not community group, but it has all those and much, much more!
Led by tireless Wesley-Souza, the group aims to showcase the work of the photomanipulation community as a whole, including some quality digital painting in the way. Their rules for submitting art are very simple and straight forward and there is no quality control, so everybody can submit their art as long as rules are followed. Their Featured folder is home to some of the best works you'll find in DA, with a huge and up-to-date selection of the highest quality photomanipulations and other digital artworks.

But amazing art isn't the only reason to be part of The-Imaginarium. Let's see what else the group has to offer:

Short Challenges

Every couple or three weeks, every member of the group has the chance to win a prize. Here's how it usually goes:

  • The group will present the members with a list of a few stocks.
  • Members vote for two winners, which will become required stock for the contest.
  • Everyone has two weeks to make and submit a photomanipulation with either one of the stocks.
  • Passed the deadline, all entries will be showcased, then members vote for the community choice and the jury (Wesley-Souza and Whendell) picks the other two winners.
  • Winners are added to the original journal for the Challenge, and then featured by The-Imaginarium later on.

Here's a link to their last Short Challenge, with prizes ranging from llamas to features and tons of free Premium stock!

THE contests

Around once every trimester, The-Imaginarium hosts a huge contest with incredible prizes given not only by the group, but also a lot of other community members. These are really big contests and prizes can get quite high. For their current contest, winners' prizes are rounding a thousand points each, plus features, stock and so on, and there's still a lot of time for them to grow!

The topics for these contests are often very original and chosen by the members over a small amount of options. Suffice to say that The-Imaginarium's contests usually get some of the best contest entries you'll see in DA's Photomanipulation community. Here's a selection of winners for their last contest:

Features

For a feature lover like myself, this group's features are priceless, and never ending! They will go from Members features, where members can submit their art to be featured (so everyone has a chance) to other more specific topics. Here are a few links to their latest features, as you can see they are very varied and with original themes!

Education

The-Imaginarium also loves to teach its members (thanks CD-STOCK for the reminder). The group has already a lot of extremely useful and interesting journals with all sorts of information regarding photomanipulation in general, copyright laws and issues, stock use and resources, how DA works and a lot more! Support

And just in case I haven't convinced you with all this yet, let it be known that Wesley-Souza is one of the most supportive souls out here on DA and he's been known to take on more humanitarian causes such as rallying to get the community together for good reasons. Here's a link to his initiative from this last Christmas, which received a lot of attention and was a complete success.
